BRCGS certification: a guarantee of safety and quality for your food packaging
BRCGS certification is a global standard that proves the safety and quality of packaging used in the food packaging industry. In the Stratus Packaging group, three sites hold it: Stratus Etinord, Stratus Health and Beauty and Stratus Packaging IML.
What is BRCGS certification?
BRCGS (Brand Reputation Compliance Global Standards, formerly the British Retail Consortium) was first made for suppliers of food sold under store brands. Today, it is also a key standard for packaging makers. Moreover, it is backed by the GFSI (Global Food Safety Initiative), so major retailers and brands accept it all over the world.
To get BRCGS certification, a site must first pass a full audit of its plant, its methods and its quality checks. External, independent auditors carry out these audits. In particular, the rules cover:
- Tracing of raw materials and finished goods
- Risk analysis and control
- Hygiene in the plant
- Quality checks at each step of production
- Staff training
- Allergen control
- Fraud prevention (Food Fraud)
- Protection against harmful acts (Food Defense)
