What does it involve?

Stratus Packaging provides its customers with boxes for the recovery and recycling of glassine backings.

Stratus also takes care of weighing and reporting to the customer the tonnage of glassine recovered and recycled.

The transportation of the boxes to our massification site (department 42) is at the customer’s expense. As soon as enough boxes are collected, a full truck is sent to our partner.

The context

Since July 1, 2016, the law on ecological transition and its obligation on sorting and recovery of professional packaging imposes a sorting at source and recovery of 5 waste streams. (Art. D543 to 287 of the environmental code).

The DREAL has set up regular controls of the actors (waste issuers, sorting facilities, storage centers).

The objectives

  • To ensure the effectiveness of the sorting, the respect of the traceability of the waste and the elimination of the non recoverable waste only,
  • To ensure compliance with regulations (quality control reinforcement and associated investments),
  • Deploying additional human resources and equipment (taking photos, reporting anomalies),
  • Deploying technical means in the storage center (control of incoming waste, refusal of loads containing waste,…).

Which wastes ?

  • Paper / Cardboard – Glassine
  • Plastic – PET or PP liner
  • Metal
  • Glass
  • Wood

Practical information

  • The box at your disposal is intended for glassine,
  • It is not a garbage can, but a sorted box,
  • The content must be sufficiently compressed to be more profitable,
  • The objective for a box is to weigh between 300 and 400 kg minimum.

At the end of the year, a certificate of the tonnage of recycled backings and an estimate of the equivalent CO2 reduction are given to the customer.
